Day 3 Barcelona

Today was a beautiful day in Barcelona. The sun was shining which made it a great day to stroll the city. Michael took us on a tour showing us his school, a magnificent park and fountain and we even had the chance to meet his host mom. Merce (short for Mercedes) was a gracious host offering sweet treats (sugary donuts that many Spaniards enjoy during Lent on days they cannot eat meat), cafe and champagne typical of Cataluña (the region around Barcelona). It was yet another fun day!

Tomorrow we are headed to Valencia, and I couldn't be more excited! We will take a 3 hour train ride down the coast and spend the night there. I am very excited to re-visit the place I studied abroad and show my parents the city.

Day 3, happy
Mixed with a little fun

Barcelona Day 2

Day 2, still smiling

We saw a lot of bikes, Bicing

On the way to a castle, I saw this door and took a picture.

We visited the Catedral de Barcelona and ended up on the roof.

I lit a candle for Santa Rita, Patron Saint of the Impossible.

Out of nowhere, Mikey tried to throw me off of the roof

Finally, we ate.

Bocadillos

fried spicy green peppers

I didn't really eat this fish, I just took a picture

Cafe con leche to end the meal

If I was on the Food Network show "Best Thing I Ever Ate",
I would say these amazing fruit tartes

gelato, crepes and waffles

And finally, Mikey took a picture of the chandelier hanging in our apartment.

Day 1 Barcelona

We arrived in Barcelona this morning after a 10 hour flight. Let's just say the flight over was a little more comfy than the flight back will be. Endless amounts of vino, champagne and gourmet meals mixed with luxurious seats that turn into beds with feather pillows and blanket made the flight go by rather quickly. Coach class is calling my name for the ride back!

In honor of my dear sister's tradition of marking my adorable niece and nephew's growth month by month with a sign, my dad and I decided to mark our time together with the same system. Please check back on day 10 to see if we are still smiling!

Day 1: Megan and Dad

To spare you the boring details of all the amazing sites we took in that are all within walking distance of our piso (apartment), I will finish up by leaving you with just a few of the pictures I took a stab at editing.

Dear Barcelona, you are amazing!
